Week Five and Six
Q. Why is the theory of evolution so important in understanding how human beings behave?
One of the most theories Darwin is famous and known for was the evolution theory. Darwin through his books made it very clear that the theory of evolution is so important in understanding how human beings behave. He believed that all organism in this universe change over time, from being so simple to be coming in to a more complex form. He believed that these organism live and change to belong and adapt to their suitable environments to survive. In other words it is how these organism transform, and their process of their transformation. Darwin called this process the natural selection. Adding to that, Darwin also believed that these living organisms are derived from different kind of species. For example, he indicated that the origin of humans was derived from monkeys, chimpanzees, apes and that these spices have shared ancestors, this is the case because he thought that they shared many physical similarities.
The very interesting term that made me understand the theory evolution was by the acronym “visited”, which was mentioned in the book named Evolution Explained, written by Professor David Lane. Each letter in the acronym “visited” represents an explanation that leads to understand the theory of Darwin the evolution.
Q. Which questions do you think evolutionary theory cannot answer?
The questions that I think evolutionary theory cannot answer are how and where and when did the life we live originate? These questions I think are interrelated with many aspects of this life such as religion, science, physics, and so on. Therefore, I think that these questions cannot be answered fully and accurately by the evolutionary theory. There are many general perspectives regarding those questions, as some might say that it was created by nature, where many others might argue that the origin of this universe is the creator which is God. I think that the evolution theory has no relation to any religious perspectives, and the questions listed above have a huge relationship to the religious matter, therefore they cannot be answered with clear explanations.
