1. Why is understanding physics and the general rules of the universe so important in doing philosophy?
Comprehending physics and the general rules of the universe is important in studying philosophy because, they are involved with each other many ways. Physics is the study of the properties of matter and energy, and the nature of them. Furthermore, philosophy is the study of the nature of knowledge, reality and existence. Einstein and Bohr (two great physicists) debate over quantum mechanics “Is not simply and a physics debate but indeed a profound philosophical one as well.”(41). These two subjects interact with each other and rely on each other to understand how the universe was created and what it is made up of at a sub atomic level. Heisenberg’s complementary principle “Offers us not only a scientific understanding of wave-particle duality but also a deep philosophical insight into life.” (41). Physics and philosophy are important to advances in science and our better understanding of the rules of the universe and unknown.

2. What is eliminative materialism?
Eliminative materialism is according to the films is that if science cannot explain a phenomena, well then god did it. Some examples of eliminate materialism are best put in the short film Eliminative Materialism: The Death of Thor Part Two: “Instead of talking about Thor the Thunder God, we talked about electrical magnetic currents. Thus, instead of talking about spirits as the causes of diseases, we talked about bacteria and viruses. Thus, instead of talking about tiny ghosts circulating throughout our anatomy pulling this or that muscle, we talked about a central nervous system.” With this over time we got rid of gods as the explanation of things in our world and replaced it with logic and reason. This cannot be applied to every phenomena in our world, many things we cannot explain and probably we never be able to explain so I guess the only explanation is that god must have did it.
