Why is understanding Physics and the general rules of the universe so important in Philosophy?
Understanding both Physics and the general rules of the universe are important because many great physicists like Heisenberg and Bohr breaks down the concept of a particle through quantum mechanics and quantum studies. In the reading Quantum Weirdness it stated, " Einstein was a realist and believed in an objective universe that exist outside of our subjective observations of it". This is important because philosophers must be able to think outside the box and understand the bigger meaning of life. To conclude, having a good understanding of both physics and the universe will go hand in hand in understanding Philosophy more fully. As described in Quantum Weirdness, " The history of science is a record of how man achieved such acclimations and how in turn such new insights transformed his understanding of how the universe actually works".
What is Eliminative Materialism?
According to the required films, Eliminative Materialism if cannot be explained fully or comprehensively by mathematics, physics, chemistry, and so on it is okay to say "Well, God did it". It also means that when we scientifically advance we replace the old and outdated concepts with new and more accurate terminology which reflects new understanding of our universe. Thus, instead of talking about Thor we talk about electrical magnetic currents. We eliminated gods in favor of a more precise and accurate explanation. Materialistic explanation evolved over time will eliminate or reduce inexplicable phenomena which will than help us better understand how some events transpire in our body, mind, and society.
