Socrates was sentenced to death by poison because he did not believe in the Gods that were recognized by the state, and because of his teachings to the Athenian youth corrupted them.

The conflict, for some, arises from confusion, lack of understanding. Some don't understand the difference between science or religion, and some don't look into either or. The more one knows, the less conflict here will be between science and religion.
