1. Why was Socrates sentenced to death?
Socrates was sentenced to death for two reasons. Those reasons being that he wasn’t a religious person and instead of recognizing the god that everyone followed, he introduced new deities thus, corrupting society, mostly youths. Ultimately, he drank a liquid poison causing his life to be put to and end. All because of is curiosity and philosophical questions.
2. Why is there a conflict (for some) between science and religion?
I believe that there is conflict between science and religion because people are afraid of diving into the unknown. People aren’t born knowing what religion is, they are raised with it. When a person is raised knowing one thing and thing only, they usually stick with it. It’s a comfort thing, some people are afraid to explore. Science, on the other hand, is a very wonderful thing given that it is able to prove to us how and why certain things occur. With religion, many questions are left unanswered. There’s more uncertainty than there is certainty.
