1. Why was Socrates sentenced to death?
Socrates examined life and the questioned beliefs of his people. During this time, he questioned the actions of his government and life which the Athenian government deemed to be corrupting the minds of the youth. He explored the reasons "why" things were as such, and why we live.
2. Why is there a conflict (for some) between science and religion?
Science and religion are different from each other. Religion has remained constant through out centuries whereas, science is always changing. Science has not been set in stone, with new theories and hypothesis, old facts believed to be true have changed. Religion has created customs that cannot be changed overnight unlike in science the point of view changes constantly.
