Q.1 why was Socrates sentenced to death?
Socrates one of the well-known and great Greek philosophers was sentenced to death due to some reasons that were mentioned by his great student Plato. Socrates was put to death through the court by drinking poison. One reason that caused this death was because he was educating the youth of that time with knowledge and information that no one agreed with and some of the people greatly against all his religious and political ideas and thoughts. The other main reason was because he denied the gods that existed in that time, therefore people were scared that his ideas and thoughts might reach the majority of people and corrupt them. As a result most people agreed on his execution through drinking poison that took place in 399 BC.
Adding to that, one great aspect regarding the philosopher Socrates that he did not have the fear of speaking openly as well as he was not scared of the any of the consequences.
Q. 2 why is there conflict (for some) between science and religion?
There is huge conflicts between science and religion which caused many conflicts between Greek philosophers. Religion for some is derived from the source of science where on the other hand some believe that science is immersed in the aspect of religion. In general when we look at the aspect of science we see that it is the study of nature and the study of what is immersed in and out of this universe. Whereas religion is the belief of the aspects of nature and the existence of god and whatever god has created. Therefore, both those aspects raise debates and conflicts between philosophers as science belongs to religion or religion belongs to science. For example the book The Great Mystery Matter vs. Spirit explains the conflict between science and religion very clearly. The book states and proves that science and religion are the two main conflicts in the world that cause conflicts due there different points of views.
