1. Why was Socrates sentenced to death? In 399B.C. Socrates was tried on two separate counts. (1.) Corrupting the youth and (2.) Impiety (Failing to acknowledge the gods that the city acknowledges and introducing new deities) and was sentenced to death by hemlock poisoning which gradually brought paralysis and death. Socrates last words were “Now it is time that we were going, I to die and you to live, but which of us has the happier prospect is unknown to anyone but God”.
2. Why is there a conflict (for some) between science and religion? :it is like the saying “ “Things made of littler things that jiggle.” Throughout the centuries there has always been conflict between science and religion mainly because what religion teaches does not take into account scientific reasoning. For example, what is written and passed down from generation to generation in religion is support to be followed due to the following rules and regulations related to religions. Scientific reasoning however, has greater success due to the mere fact that the scientific method and other testing would be conducted in an experiment over and over again with concluding results, verifying accuracy.
