1. Why was Socrates Sentenced to death?
Socrates was brought to trial because of the two accusations made against him. The first accusation was for not believing in the gods recognize by the state. In his defense he states, “He neither denies nor confesses the first accusation but shows that in several instances he conformed to the religious customs of his country, and that he believes in god more than he fears man.” This is the first reason that was he was sentenced to death because he did not adopt there ways. Second reason was that he was believed to have corrupt the Athenian youth by the ways of his teachings. Melitus which is his accuser reports charges Socrates with corrupting youth designingly, which cannot be liable by punishment. With the help of his friend Crito they have a conversation about assisting Socrates and paying his fine but it doesn’t work out in the end. Sentenced to death by drinking the Hemlock plant Socrates believes that, “going to his death he only passing to a better and happier life.’”

2. Why is there a conflict between science and religion?
I believe that there is always going to be a conflict between science and religion no matter what. There has always been since the beginning of time. It’s one of the most highlighted topics when it comes down to what we choose to believe in. There are many regions of the world and the fact is that there gods are different except in one area from being in the form of a super being. Of course you can choose from what you believe in but the other side is always going to try and convince you that they are right and vice versa. It’s more of a personal preference and has a huge determining factor about how you were raised. Science has been able to provide more facts but until we as a human race can find the core truth of which we will never know any time soon. So until then there is no right or wrong in this discussion it’s your own preference.
