Why is there conflict (for some) between science and religion?
There is conflict (for some) between science and religion because a lot of things found through science “contradicts the Bible and insults religion” (The Great Mystery: Matter vs Spirit). After reading the text and watching the videos I think I came out more confused than smarter. So many big words were used and the ones that I did understand, ended up with me pondering over it longer than I wanted to. My biggest question would be for the hard core religious people that don’t like the theory that we are all just a bunch of matter along with everything else surrounding us; If God is the creator of everything, what’s not to say that God created matter which is essentially in everything? In turn, wouldn’t that mean God is in all of us, which is what the religious group is trying to preach to us? Full circle of sorts?
However, if we were to go by Michael Shermer’s view which states, “I don’t think a union between science and religion is possible for a logical reason, but by this same logic I conclude that science cannot contradict religion”, my question is nonsense because science and religion can never have a union. Since science and religion cannot go hand and hand conflict will always arise. Science will always want answer with stuff to back it up and keep digging for more and more answers until they hit a wall, while religious groups will answer many of the world’s problems and miracles as an act from God.
