1. Why is Faqir Chand's experiences important in understanding the projective nature of religious visions and miracles?
Faqir Chand’s experienced the possibility of death. During his involvement in the war he saw a vision telling him “Faqir, worry not, the enemy has not come to attack bit to take away their dead. Let them do that do not waste your ammunition, “ written in The Unknowing Sage. Then several months later when fighting came to an end he was worshipped by many because he appeared in a vision to them guiding them through survival. Faqir Chand admits that he did not want to appear to them, he didn’t even think of them because he was preoccupied and worried for his own well being. He has come to a realization that no experience can capture what it is to simply be. He stated that people who call themselves as all knowing, have deceived people by making them believe that they have an understanding of higher power.
2. What is meant by the phrase, "philosophy done well is science; philosophy done poorly remains philosophy."
I have had the pleasure of establishing a relationship with a physicist and have had this discussion before. I concluded that philosophy can transform into science. Philosophy can’t be answered with simple solutions. In other words, philosophy has a broad array of solutions. Philosophy asks important questions and when these questions can be tested they become science because there is a direction towards an answer. Philosophy done poorly remains philosophy because it cannot be proven; in fact all it may be is a well expressed question without the possibility of becoming law. Philosophy done poorly cannot evolve into science because it does not have any supporting claims to prove the importance.
