1. Do you think artificial intelligence will be a significant problem in the future?
I would say no. As in the video, Ray Kurzweil: The Coming Singularity he states that by 2029 the reverse engineering of the brain will be completed including our emotional intelligence. By 2029, computer technology will be so advanced that it will by far exceed human intelligence. The point of such advanced technology is to allow us to “extend our reach.” In addition, humans are creating these devices to better humanity. Although there may be consequences of viruses, the good out weights the bad because technology has done so much more for humanity. In addition, there are limits that us humans cannot reach because there will always be details that we will not be able to see, science and technology will not outsmart us. According to the video, The Wolfram Conclusion: A New Kind of Science and The Principle of Computational Equivalance, the Principle of Computational Equivalance, says that’s what’s inside us, can achieve what our universe achieves. The same simple rules that are followed by the universe, is followed by us humans. As the book, Digital Philosophy states, “But, the truth is that books are furniture and what we are discovering is that information in its quest for freedom doesn’t want to be chained down to an elevated podium or locked behind cages in temperature controlled rooms as If readers were nocturnal data thieves.” We should not move backwards, but forward, and we should not be afraid of what’s to come.
2.How has technology impacted your life?
Technology has impacted my every day life drastically. I work on a computer everyday in my office. There’s a need for the internet now and everyone should have wifi and some type of iphone or Galaxy. I can’t leave home without my phone. It’s basically impossible for me to have a full day without my little helper with me. I don’t have to wait 10 minutes for a video to download and play online. I don’t have to use my house phone, and I don’t have to hand write my papers. Everything is done online, on the computer, and I can practically work on anything anywhere in the world. I love Google. With one click I can look something up, regardless if my mind is limited to its knowledge. The internet is limitless, that’s what makes it so amazing. I don’t have to buy books, (though I still chose too), and I don’t have to buy CD’s, and cassettes are not even existent anymore! There’s something to make everyone’s life easier. Technology has made my life easier.
