1. Why is Faqir Chand's experiences important in understanding the projective nature of religious visions and miracles?
Faqir chand’s experiences were important because he exposed the truth on religious visions and so called miracles. As stated in the book; The Unknown Sage”, Faqir Chand suggest that “gurus, masters, prophets, and mystics posing as all-knowing beings have deceived millions of followers by duping them into believing they have omnipresence and omnipotence when in fact they have neither”. Faqir Chand also exposed that when one has a religious experience, that person is manifesting what they see in their near death experience. Faqir Chand also stated that people would write to him saying that he appeared to them while they were in distress, but Faqir chand said he never knowingly appeared to anyone nor did he say anything to them. Faqir Chand was said to be the greatest sage of the century yet he was so humble to say “the truth is that I know nothing”.
2. What is meant by the phrase, "philosophy done well is science; philosophy done poorly remains philosophy."
“Philosophy done well is a science; philosophy done poorly remains philosophy” means that philosophy alone is theory, suggestion, and ideas, while science includes studies and research to support facts. A good example of philosophy done well is how string theory was scientifically experimented on which makes it more science than philosophy. Anything philosophical that can’t be supported by science is just a theory and holds no proof to support these theories. Philosophy done poorly would mean that the philosopher did no scientific research on his theories, all he had was his written and verbal words on his thoughts.
