1. Do you think artificial intelligence will be a significant problem in the future?
I do think that artificial intelligence will be a problem in the future because it has taken over everything, it has replaced writing letters to loved ones, no one calls anyone these days, everything is through text or email. Artificial intelligence has already started to replace jobs that once belonged to humans. In the video by "Ray Kurzweil: The Coming Singularity " he says how fast technology has evolved, he says that "by the year 2020 we will have computers that are powerful enough to simulate the human brain". This is kind of scary in a way that a machine could be as smart as a human or even smarter. Though technology has improved our lives in a way, it has far surpassed what people thought was possible. There are several movies about this topic like “Surrogates” with Bruce Willis where the people live through robots and they can be whoever they want. That would be a crazy world to live in.
2. How has technology impacted your life?
Technology has changed my life mostly for the better in the way that it helps me get things done faster and I can accomplish more in a day. Technology helps me stay in contact with people that are computer and text savvy. At the same time, I am not as close with people that aren’t tech savvy. I feel more disconnected from human contact and everything seems so impersonal. Technology is a great thing for the most part, I am able to do online classes being that I am a mother of 2 and work full time and cannot attend classes on campus this semester. After doing this assignment I realized that I don’t read books as a hobby like I use to, hopefully I can read one soon, a physical book not on a nook or tablet.
