1. Do you think artificial intelligence will be a significant problem in the future?
I think artificial intelligence might be a problem in the future, I just don't know to what degree exactly and if it will be as "overstated" like how movies seem to portray artificial intelligence. A good movie in my opinion is Transcendence where Johnny Depp dies and is reborn as a computer brain. Artificial intelligence is, "the theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages". When we artificial intelligence comes to mind our schema might automatically connect it to something bad, such as robots taking over the world or just total corruption, but I believe artificial intelligence can also be positive in some cases, such as advancing medical technology to help prevent and cure diseases. On the other hand artificial intelligence also has the ability to collect personal data from people's computers and telephones and that's where I think it crosses the line. problem. In the required film titled The Codex Funeral it stated, “The future is not something we enter. The future is something we create". What he is basically implying is that our future will be based on our technical innovations as we evolve.
2. How has technology impacted your life? Be sure to support your answers with references to the required readings and films
Technology has impacted my life in a variety of ways some for the better and some not so much. For example: I use my GPS on a daily basis if I'm traveling to an event. Unlike, some people my memory for remembering streets and freeways are horrible. I cannot take out a map and navigate to save my life (OK maybe in extreme situations) so having a GPS in this case comes in handy. However, I do strongly believe that technology is negatively impacting younger children and causing them to spend less time outdoors and more time inside on their Ipad and phones leading to higher percentage of childhood obesity. Furthermore, like everything else, technology too has its ups and downs at the end of the day its really just up to us to decide for ourselves how much we will let it impact our lives.
