THE AVATAR PROJECT: How Virtual Reality is Ken Wilber's Subtle Realm Incarnated, was a very interesting video on virtual reality and the effects it will have on the world. I myself have never experienced any virtual reality technology, but I can imagine how incredible it must be to be taken into another reality without moving a muscle. In contrast to Wilber's model for achieving the subtle realm, virtual technology gadgets will make it very easy for any individual to achieve an altered reality in which the mind is free from the body. The gaming industry has sure made some great advances in that similar technology field. I am amazed of how realistic some of the new video games are and I can only imagine how virtual reality gadgets will enhance the gaming experience. But as explained in the video, VR technology will not only be limited to entertainment, it will be used so broadly that it might be difficult to differentiate between the real and virtual world. I am sure people will prefer the virtual reality where their imagination and mind has no limits.

When I was watching this video, this surprised me and I am really looking forward to our world and our future. This video shows how Virtual Reality will imitate a lot of ideas that mystics have described as the "astral" plane. Moreover, it also explores how Integral theorist Ken Wilber's hierarchical model may also apply to the future of Virtual Reality. Ken Wilber is the controversial New Age philosopher, and he may be one of our best future theorists when it comes to all things virtual. I can imagine that how powerful the Virtual Reality is, especially in the virtual reality, the neophyte simply dons a headset and turns on the preset program and then in a second or two finds himself or herself completely encased in a 3-D wonderland, which impressed me a lot.

My first thought when watching this video was that my child was just able to try out the new google cardboard at school. We are now living in a world that I never thought to be possible. To be able to travel to different places without having to actually get on a plane is remarkable. Professor Lane said best when we are now in fact "downloading the astro plane."(Avatar Video) A technologist dream. Unfortunately one of my fears is that of what is real. I fear that with the different types of virtual stimulators that will be in every home in the next couple years, people will begin to forget what reality is. I do not know why but it made me think of the movie "Wall-e"when individuals were so focused on their screens of virtual reality that they forgot about true reality. With virtual stimulators coming in effect, reality ay just slowly diminish. Which I do not think would be good for society, but there is no stopping technology. It is just as Professor Lane stated that "the drug of the future, is virtual"(Avatar Video)and there is no stopping it truly.

The Avatar Project
This film highlighted and pointed how limitless technology is becoming as time continues to progress. What that type of technology creates is a way for humans to step outside of themselves without physically leaving their body. It takes our unconscious dreams, and our conscious visions and makes them tangible to us. It would allow us to relive and dwell within our imaginations. It creates another form of an escape, possibly the ultimate form of escape, and if that is a fact we may see humans stray away from the excessive use of television, and the abuse of drug substances. What the avatar project is, is a new set of eyes to unlock your mind.

THE AVATAR PROJECT: How Virtual Reality is Ken Wilber's Subtle Realm Incarnated- I have mixed feelings after watching this short film. I am truly amazed by how far technology has come and I am excited and interested in seeing what new advances are yet to come in virtual reality. I believe that virtual reality is a great addition to entertainment and leisure, and I like the idea of being able to view our dreams as a reality. My only concern is the blurring of the line and virtual reality extending beyond the realms of entertainment. Technology is and has been taking over many forces making less and less of the power of the human mind. I think it is important to establish a fine line.
