1. Why is Faqir Chand's experiences important in understanding the projective nature of religious visions and miracles?
His experiences and subsequent revelations call into question the actual causes and the very validity of these visions and miracles. Chand, strongly felt and that the power of suggestion was a major force at play inside the human mind and therefore the overwhelmingly majority, if not all, of these so called events were probably the result of some type of inner manifestation of the person or persons who witnessed these occurrences, and not due to outside forces that they almost always are attributed to. Of course these manifestations would be directly related to ones’ most sacred beliefs. Many of the so called gurus and religious leaders are cognizant of the power of suggestion, and therefore are able to, tap into the recesses of one’s mind for the purpose to exploit and manipulate what one believes in order to maintain or gain further control over an individual and the eventual masses. One needs to understand this, to understand that in every situation, strength undoubtedly always comes from within, regardless of what one believes in. If people would recognize that strength comes from within, they would find a sense of empowerment which would be good for any religious body no matter what their faith is. While it is probable that many would then begin to question the power and or the need for their faiths, which is undoubtedly a threat to religious leaders, it is also probable that many will experience a strengthening of their faith. Many would do for themselves, instead of waiting on God.
2. What is meant by the phrase, "philosophy done well is science; philosophy done poorly remains philosophy."
This is the notion that everything concerning human thought and reason should be rooted in the laws of physics or science in order to show how and why humans are effected by taboo topics. Philosophy uses many disciplines of science, including physics, to serve as a barrier or measuring stick, because science dispels the notion of free will and states that social creatures act according to the driving forces of their DNA, and not just free will. The measuring stick is important, for if it was not there, then the philosopher could say he or she does this or that just because they can, which would mean that they would never be able to provide any type of basis as to the reasoning of why a person thinks or feels the way that they do in any given area or subject of human behavior.
