1. Explain the virtual simulation theory of consciousness. 2. How does the brain trick us and for what benefit is it for our genetic survival?
Ok so first off I am going to answer these questions in a combined response. I could be entirely wrong and actually have no idea what I am talking about but they way I understood the virtual simulation theory of consciousness is with the fight or flight scenario. We as humans do this for survival. We determine during difficult situations whether or not it will benefit our survival to fight or to get as far away from it as possible. With that being said I believe that the virtual simulation theory is kind of the same because our mind makes things up for us for our benefit. Just like in the video “Disneyland of consciousness” it explains how when some of the animations seemed so real. Well I believe our mind plays these tricks on us for survival. To save us from things that we don’t know or understand. We of course don’t always know whether or not we will be in really bad danger or not but that is why are mind is so miraculous. It is always on watch for us. Waiting for the right moment to act. So we can survive.
