Week 5 and 6
Why is the theory of evolution so important in understanding how human beings behave?
The Theory of evolution is important in order to have an idea of how and why Homo sapiens are what we are today. From the reading of The DNA of Consciousness, we are introduced to Sean Carroll. Sean Carroll is molecular scientist. Scientist are using DNA evidence from present day animals and connecting them to animals from hundreds of millions of years ago when said animals began to evolve. The molecular mechanism can explain why human beings look and behave a certain way. Though, the theory of evolution is just a scientific idea of how we have come to be what we are, It is important to understand that it is a definite possibility because it will help us understand our past and possibly our future.
Which questions do you think evolutionary theory cannot answer?
The main question that I do not believe the evolutionary theory ca answer is what came first? This type of question goes along with the notion of what cam first the chicken or the egg? I have a personal opinion and have had many discussions with people with different opinions than me but I have yet to find a definite answer. Though I do believe that everything has evolved from something else I do not believe that it can be proven what came first. Did non mammals arrive first and some creatures evolved to mammals? In addition the evolutionary theory cannot answer question pertaining to god. This is die too the fact that people have different believes and different gods, How do we know which is the correct god?
