1. Why is the theory of evolution so important in understanding how human beings behave?
The theory of evolution Explains the fact that adaptation is key to survival. This is where we are introduced with "Darwinism" and "natural selection." In the video "Evolution explained in four minutes", It is explained that our genetic code is basically a book made up of many little chapters and pages. And that certain species DNA may consist of very similar genetic coding, where the belief that these species are derived from a similar being prior to their existence. Each has adapted in their own sense to survive as they evolve. Human behavior can be explained through the theory of evolution as a survival instinct which we have learned over the course of our existence starting with our original being which we ourselves are derived from. Natural selection forces those weaker species to change and adapt their own coding and structures to their surroundings to continue their existence over the course of their time.
2. Which questions do you think evolutionary theory cannot answer?
A question that has boggled my mind for years, and I am sure has boggled many others as well, is what is the origin of the DNA code and life itself? Both religion and science may have their own "theories" but this is where I believe science takes on a part of religion on its own, simply because both require a level of "faith."
Another question which has puzzled me for years, is, If we are continuously evolving to survive and adapt to be on the positive end of natural selection, then why do we see humanity continuously develop more and more physical and mental disabilities at birth and during our life span, not caused by any physical or chemical "injuries", but seem to just "pop up"?
One more question i do have, is, if we are wired to reproduce and to have that biological need to pass along our genes and DNA for the survival of our species, then, why have we developed the homosexual trait, where reproduction is not biologically possible in the natural world. I believe this still goes along the lines of survival and natural selection and why do we seem to digress in our "advancement."
